is it at the back of your throat on the sides by the sticky down thing (epiglottis)? and does it look like little pieces of bread stuck on?

take a couple of paracetamol (or similar) and eat ice cream, avoid hard foods like toast or anything else gritty, drink plenty of fluids and stay in and watch tv all day with dd! but if it gets no better in a couple of days think about making a doc appointment so you're not ill over xmas

The white bits alongside a really sore throat usually indicate pockets of pus due to bacterial infection. You might have strep--might be worth seeing GP for antibiotics. I know you hate your GP, but. . strep throat is one of those things not to mess around with.

Try gargling with soluble aspirin or parcetamol in the meantime - you might be able to fight it off without any ab's and it will soothe it a bit anyway.

Lay on the sofa all day and a giant tub of Ben and Jerry's icecream should do the trick. Oooh pass it this way please. Only joking!! Stomach bugs in this house at the moment we need no more. Does sound a bit like tonisilitis. I remember when dh had tonsilitis though he was really ill with it. Had a terrible temperature with it and could hardly lift his head of the pillow. Get well soon!
