Does anyone know how many Hib injections my 23month old should have? He had one at 2,3& 4 months and a booster last september. He is now due to go today for a 5th
Is that right?

Is that part of the pre-school bosters? If so then yes that's the way they decided to do it..... Will probably change in the future though!

dd ( now 3) had it at 2,3 and 4 months and had a booster last year when she was about 2.6. I haven't had any letters about the next one, I thought it would be when she's 4?

I don't understand having 2 boosters...? Presumably they didn't like the type of HIb he had initially so that's why the booster last September, but why another one now? Another booster before school, sure, but he's only 23 months old so why have a booster now? Would have thought it's 2 years early to have the preschool booster today.

DH had pneumonia from HIb, almost 4 years ago. Truly awful. Even now I get anxious if he gets any sort of chronic cough.

Sorry to hijack this thread but am worried about this myself. My dd never had her third booster due to a series of errors by the surgery. I got so fed up of being turned away after waiting hours each time (Oh dear your nurse isn't here today etc) that in the end I never had the third booster.

She is now 14 months old. Should I be chasing up that third booster? Or do I have to start the whole course again?

Hib is one of those jabs, from my understanding, that you do not have to start the course over if you miss one.

Not sure, but I know my two got recalled for a new hib jab earlier this year - can't remember what was wrong with the old one. Sorry, not much help, but perhaps there is a reason it needs doing again? Why don't you phone and query it cos she seems a bit young to be having a pre-school one.

doesn't sound right to me

there was one at 2, 3 and 4 months .. for a while they did a 4th as a booster but many areas no longer do this as immunity is up

the 5th (or possibly 4th) as a pre-school booster is due between the ages of 3.5 and 5

HTH

Thanks for the advice, i did cancel the appointment and will make a trip to the doctors to quiz why he needs a 5th booster now.
