SIDE EFFECTS OF THE PILL - WHAT ARE THEY?

I've been back on the combined pill for nearly 2 months. I started it on the day of my period, which only lasted a day. After a week I had spotting every day until the last pill of the packet, when I bled for a couple of days. For the last couple of weeks I've been feeling sick, absolutely exhausted, increased amount of discharge, sore boobs that leak, and tight trousers.I also have stretching pains. Is this all side effects of the pill? When will it stop?! I am not letting myself do any pregnancy tests because I convinced myself Iwas pregnant before when I wasn't, I don't want to convince myself again.

it seems like a lot of symptoms to me but I don't know if they're all down to the pill.
in any case, if you are at all thinking you might be pregnant, perhaps you should stop taking them.

Different pills have different side effects happy1, which one are you on? You can always google for side effects, but leaking boobs sounds a bit of a concern. I would go back to the doctor and tell him how you're feeling.

There's some feedback on microgynon on this website.
I would go back to the doctor though if it was me, since you've had no problems with it before. It sounds rough!

happy 1 I was on microgynon 30 as well, never had any side effects at all, it was great didn't put on any weight (or loose any come to that) my moods were normally ok as well. But since coming off of it thou I've read on the web a lot of women have had problems.

I'm not currently on the Pill but took it for about 20 years. A very common thing for me was, after a few years of being on one brand I found that I would start having side effects of one sort or another and have to switch to a different one.

Happy1, virtually all the symptoms you describe could all be side-effects of the pill, particularly the spotting bleeding, the nausea and sore boobs. It is normal to wait until you have taken the pill for 3 months before deciding whether this particular brand doesn't suit you. If you feel things are unbearable, i would strongly advise you not to stop taking it until you have been back to discuss it with you Dr / Nurse. THere are lots of different brands of pills and some suit some women better than others, so you may well be able to change onto a different brand which doesn't make you feel so ropey. What you need ot remember is that the pill works (in very simplistic terms) by basically tricking your body into believing its already pregnant, so you don't ovulate whilst taking it. Thats why all the side-effects are just like being pregnant! They normally should settle in about 3 months though. Have you been taking it correctly, with no late or forgotton pills? HTH
