my DD has had spots dotted around her bottom over the last wekk or so, asked b.i.l who is pharmacist and said was nappy rash so carried on with sudocrem. that seems to have gone now but she is now very red at the front. i also noticed that her last two morning nappies have smelt rather strong? am gonna take her to doc mon for this and also dry patches on arms coming up again but does anyone have any addvice in the meantime? she is upset when im changing her nappy and when i put cream around that area..poor little thing said 'bum' when i asked her what was hurting..please help me to ease it for her.

If her nappies smell a bit strong are you sure that she's drinking enough?
I use metanium for nappy rash and it clears overnight - fantastic stuff. If it's more spots than a blotch it may be thrush in which case you may need some Canesten HC which will do the trick too.
Either way I hope that her bum is back to normal soon - it's not nice for them is it?

ps Kamillosan you can get from anywhere, Asda sell it as do Boots etc. It's used mainly for sore and cracked nipples.

Another vote for metanium - miracle stuff (but don't get any on any clothing - stains badly!)

totaly agree, i recommend metanium to everyone! Should get a share in profits i think! All the parents whose children i care for use it on my reccommendation!

metanium - brilliant. I only use it when ds is sore. Otherwise, I use drapolene as a barrier cream.

Metanium is really good. However, my dd had pretty bad nappy rash and redness once, which none of the creams I had worked on (sudocrem, kamillosan, metanium and one other I forget), turned out she had a slight thrush infection. Canestan cleared it up v. quickly. Worth bearing in mind.

thanks everyone for all that, seems metanium is a good option! her redness has gone down today a little, but still noticable and she still flinches when i put cream on.
poppyseed - yeah, she drinks plenty and although smelly, morning nappy is rather full as normal.
hope its not thrush, as ive had is on and off since she was born and nothing works for me! even swabs dont show anything up?(done all usual stuff changing washing powder, not using conditioner etc)and am very careful about cleanliness to ensure i cant pass anything onto her. poor darling..she has been grumpy today and tired...i think she is under the weather genarally as she keeps touching her right ear and cringes if i try to clean it.
hopefully doc will help tomorrow..thanks again girls
