14 month old with spots on left arm and leg - any ideas?

I don't think it's baby acne, but not sure really.

They are small raised bumps, some with a "head". So far, they're only appearing on his left arm and leg in patches about 10cm wide.

He isn't running a temperature and seems fine.

We have been visiting an Aunt who had shingles last year and it began to return while we were there. She quickly got v strong antibiotics to "stave off" another attack and seemed to be ok.

Any ideas anyone?

anyone?

I thought shingles wasn't contagious, but have now read that rarely, it can be.

Think I'll go to the GP tomorrow.

It could be the beginnings of chicken pox because apparently, this can develop if you have been in contact with someone who has shingles (and you haven't had chicken pox before). I do hope not, as he's still so little. Will go to surgery tomorrow to get him checked over.

Thanks twiglett.

The little boy I look after had spots on his arms and legs that his parents thought were bites - a little like yu describe the doctor gave it a name but said it was harmless - if infectious- and would go away without causing any problems.
Still if I were you if they dont go after 24 hours I'd see the doctor just to be sure

Are they mainly in the creases ? If so perhaps molluscum contagiosum, although they do sound quite widespread for that. ds had a load behind his knee for about 6 months when he was almost 3 - like little pearls on his skin but not irritating.

An allergic reaction to something (unknown) apparently. The spots seem to be "drying up" now and he hasn't been scratching at them.

Thanks for the advice everyone
