Inflammation of the choroid

My 20 year old son visited the optician for a routine check-up this week. We were shocked to find he has lost 75% of the vision in his right eye. The optician said he has inflammation of the choroid but further tests will be needed to determine the cause and treatment. Our GP has referred him to the local hospital but said it could be up to 3 months before he is seen. This is all something of a shock-he wears glasses but his vision was apparently normal at his last eye test. The deterioration has been very rapid.
Does anyone know anything about this condition?

Hi , who did he go and see . It’s a major part of the eye that provides oxygen and nourishment to the retina of the eye . I used to work for an opticians and I know all referrals go via the doctors to a central hospital who call with appointments. This is definitely not a 3 month wait unless they are saying it’s at its early stages . Even so I would want my son to be seen sooner . Make a fuss . The opticians can re refer if you say the doctor has mislaid the referral or words to that affect . You need more explanation or I would go to another opticians for a second opinion . That’s just me . Good luck .
