I think my 2 year old DD may have thrush.

She s complaining of having a sore botty but we cannot see any excessive redness, though I think she may me slightly inflamed.

She was having difficulty settling in her cot or our bed so I took her down stairs for some calpol (given her 2 sachets which is max dose).

I have called NHS direct and am waiting for them to call back. As soon as I put the phone down she dropped off to sleep so I left her downstairs to post this. DP has been down and said that he heard he whimpering so she is not in a deep sleep.

Any ideas as to how I can help her tonight?

TIA

Do you have any yoghourt - esp the bio type?? It will sooth and is supposed to "gobble up" any infection

NHS direct have called back.

They have suggested calling the docs tomorrow rather trhan waiting until monday.

They have said it could be thrush or a urine infection so best to get it checked asap.

I have just brought her upstairs and put her in aher cot without her stirring at all, so hopefully she will stay asleep.

Thanks again

My dd got a lot of thrush, nappy rash and eczema. I generally tried various creams until one worked. Canestan (1%), hydrocortisone and sudocream.
