Dd hospital appointment today, can't decide wether to mention absences or not

I know i've asked about this before but i still haven't made up my mind wether to mention it or not.

Dd is back at the hospital today for them to check up on her lethargy/possible post viral fatigue syndrome.

I can't decide wether to mention the absences that nursery mentioned. They first mentioned it when they said she was constantly tired in marchish i think. My g.p said to tell her at the next visit if it had happened again, but it hadn't.

Since then the nursery have mentioned two seperate incidents. First was that all children were sat on the mat and told they could get up and play, dd just sat there staring into space.
I couldn't really get a proper explanation of them as to wether they called her name or not so I chose to leave it.
The second incident was that one teacher was having a conversation with dd and she apparently just switched off and stared into space. I asked if they called her name and they said yes twice but dd didn't respond, and then suddenly she was back with them.

I hav never ever noticed her do anything like that and am still unsure if the nursery are exagerating and possibly looking for something thats not there (dd's teachers daughter is epileptic).
I also feel abit like i'll sound like i'm wanting them to find something wrong with her if i keep mentioning different things.

So should i mention it at the hospirtal or not ??

Thanks Twig, i always seem to turn into a gibbering wreck everytime we go and don't get half of what i want said.

My friends parents have said that if they decided to test her for epilepsy it won't hurt her so it's better to have it done than wonder.

They are right of course, i'm just worried i'll hear something i don't want to.

I would definitely mention them. Even if it turns out to be nothing at least the doctor will have had all the information to work with.

Good luck.

why don't you write a list of all the things you want to ask. i've done this before and always apologise before getting the list out- only to be be told 'no don't worry, loads of people come with a list'

definitely mention them, the teacher probably knows that they can be an indicator of a type of epilepsy...but given your dd's history, it's likely to be something else. giving the dr as much info as possible will definitely help them to at least rule out certain things. good luck

I would mention them - but in the way that you have descrived it here, ie that it's the nursery that has "seen" them, that you've not observed them and that the nursery teacher may be hyper-sensitive as her own daughter is epileptic. That way, you've presented them with all the "facts" - to allow THEM to make a judgement.

Thanks guys. Dp thinks it's nothing and that nursery are exagerating but Dd's teacher did once say to me that she originally thought it might be epilepsy but didn't want to say that incase she upset me, so mentioned it along with the being tired too IYKWIM.

I will mention it and see what they say.

I am also goiung to ask her new teacher to report any apparent absences to me on the day that they happen, if they happen.

What a waste of time that was. Got there 45 min before appointment so dd could have magic cream n and the appointment had been cancelled.

They had written to us at our old address.

New appointment is for 14th sept, my first day at college, so not sure what's happeneing at the mo.

Update

Had Dd's appointment today and they have now said that they think she is fine and that she may have had a virus that took her a little longer than normal to recoover from. They also said that it may just be how she is, and that some kids just simply get more tired than others.

I did mention the absences and they have said that at the mo they don't think any further investigation is needed but I have got to discuss it again with her teachers and make sure that they know that they must report any unusal starring, glazing over, behaviour e.t.c, and that if they think she is just day dreaming they should call her name and see if she responds.
If they report any more absences or odd behaviour then the paed will arrange for a brain scan.

We have another appointment for Jan 05 but they said that if we think she needs to be seen sooner we can just ring up and they will move the appointment forward. Likewise if we think she is perfectly fine by then we can cancell.

So all in all a good result.

Thanks to all for the advice and concern, much appreciated
