HELP - DD HAS SPOTS

malinki · 04/08/2004 13:40

About 6 weeks ago, I took dd to see my GP as she had spots on her back, front, bottom, lady bits and down the backs of her legs and a few under her arms. After the GP examined her she casually said to DD (aged nearly 4), that she had Chicken Pox with a big smile on her face, she then proceeded to tell me that it was great that she had them now and not when she starts school etc etc. She prescribed Piriton and Calomine lotion and for 1 week only these spots seemed to come and go without any scaring. This morning DD has woken up covered in these tiny spots, they are the same spots as last time, DH is very matter of factly, she must have been diagnosed incorrectly when you took her to see the quack. So she is in Nursery today covered in sudacrem. I have warned nursery about the spots and she is ill in any way at all, just the same as 6 weeks ago. Anyone, any idea what it might be,

Thanks Twiglett, yorkiegirl at first I thought it was a viral rash, but wouldn't she show other signs, like be ill or something, GP can't see her until next week, so I have dabbed some calomine lotion on her, this morning she is still ok, the spots seem to be drying up????

what do you wash her clothes in?
Sometimes in heat the powder can react with their skin...
Persil and many bio powders are usual suspects I've heard.

malinki, dd1 had what we thought might be chicken pox about 6 weeks ago - small red spots that itched and wept a bit, but they never really scabbed over and they weren't THAT itchy. She has just had another bout of them, about 15 around her ear, on her back and legs and arms. We thought they might be bites? Although none of us have them at all.

Does this sound familar?

Do you have pets? Fleas? I speak from bitter - and itchy - experience!

have just discovered this and wondered if anyone knew anything about flea bites? DS has about 10 spots on his arms/legs. they are red and look like they might be pus-y (have resisted temptation to squeeze!!). DR said she didn't know what they were (not very helpful). they don't appear to be itching and he's completley oblivious to them. we have a dog but she is wormed/fleaed regularly and besides both me and Dh are ok. the first ones appeared about 2 weeks ago and the second lot today. has anyone any ideas or do you think its hormonal teenage spots 15 years early?!! i really can't think what they could be. thanks Littleweed

Ds had what I (and my brother's neighbour who is a gp) think was a viral rash and he really wasn't ill at all...my gp thought it was mesales.(sp)....but he wasn't ill enough for that....

Yep there's a spotty virus doing the rounds. Ds2 (18mths) had it first and was spotty for about 10 days. Dh had it for about 4 days. I was mortified when trekking around ASDA on Saturday afternoon to see that I had loads of little red spots appearing all over myself. I got home ASAP but thank god my freckles disguised the spots. I would have been popular if I'd gone to the Summer Party, wouldn't I? The practice nurse told us that they've had several cases. It looks a lot like measles or German measles but most (if not all) of the people who had it were fully immunised.

I've been to the doctor this morning with ds2 who has had about 20 of these kind of spots over the last week or so, with a couple of new ones coming out every day. I really haven't been able to work out what they are at all. The GP reckoned he was bitten by something, then itched the bite which got infected, the infection passed into his system and so the spots keep erupting. She's given him an antibiotic cream to put on each one and a prescription for antibiotics which I can try if they haven't cleared up in a few days.
