allergy testing

I had a blood test to find out if there are any foods I should avoid.

It is one of those which tests for igg antibody reaction.

It came back to avoid wheat and cows milk and soya! Obviously this is going to be a right pain!

I wondered if anybody has had intolence/allergy tests and cut out the foods. Any experience, comments welcome.

I had allergy testing and it came back as lactose intolerent. I cut out all dairy and lost a stone in 4 weeks. I've started to introduce some dairy back into my diet now, because it was soooo hard. I'm ok with bits of butter, a splash of milk but no cream, yoghurt is a bit touch and go and if I drink a glass of milk I am doubled over in pain immediately. I have put half a stone back on (thank God - I was too thin). DH is yeast intolerent and has cut out yeast for the past month, he has also lost a stone and more is coming off daily. So you may notice a whole load of weight coming off, whether you want it to or not! Good luck, it's hard work but my eczema has cleared up completely since I started and it was so bad I couldn't actually pick my ds up or walk.

is this york testing?

for intolerance only?

they do have a failure ratiing BTW.

IGG is found in high levels in many people around the world , it doesnt mean that they have an allergy.

For istance allergy docs have examined the blood of african children who are given peanuts as a early weaning food. They have high IGG levels, but allergy is unheard of there.

If this is intolerance, an elimination diet will work.

if anything your diet will improve as you will have less processed food choices.
Get back in the kitchen and cook!!! LOL

Thanks for your feedback guys.

The test days that it is a food intolerance test.
ginger - it is funy you say that about weight - because I often bloat out - I think wheat is the colprate. I hope that. I think cutting it out will help with my weight. It is such a pain though - I love milk!

williamsmum: I think that you are right - it is going to help to elimanate these things and see what happens. and you are right about the cooking! lol

emily - I also love milk so giving it up was the hardest thing ever! However, now I have given it up I don't seem to crave it as much as I used to. Dh's yeast intolerence is probably the hardest to do, it involves any foods that ferment - so no toms or mushrooms, no sauces (most have vinegar in), obviously no alcohol (he doesn't drink anyway so that's ok!). I would research foods you can eat and set aside a 6 week window where you do it religiously. You will be amazed at how well you feel, then after 6 weeks or so you can slowly introduce things back in. That's what they told me and it seems to work. And tea is much nicer without milk, which is bizarre! I never thought I'd admit that!

I had the foodscan test with York a few years ago after suffering very badly with a constant upset tummy. It came back that I was intollerant to Yeast,Gluten,Wheat,Ginger,Cola Nut and borderline to cows milk.
After excluding these foods(not the easiest thing to do!)I was 100% better-absolutely unbelievable.I then got pg with ds and was so constipated that I started eating bread etc...again and was fine-it didn't upset my tummy.I'm also 33 weeks pg again and not having any problems with these foods and hoping I might be "cured" as some people can re-introduce foods after a while, with no nasty side effects.

My mother was a kinesiologist who carried out food allergy tests by muscle testing. She said the blood test for intolerances was unreliable as you'd have to have eaten the foods within the past hour or so (I can't be sure, sadly she died 2 years ago).
I tend to follow a wheatfree diet to keep my weight down, though I'm breastfeeding at the moment so not concerned with losing my baby weight at the moment.
Basically, I do all my own home cooking, use Spelt flour (available from health shops) instead of ordinary flour.
