Hi everyone my name is Dee. This is the first time I have written in any forum. I have an issue which I don't know how to get out of.. I like to stay in my bed watching movies or going through random questions on Google and I find it difficult to do anything that requires me to get up eg clean cook go to local shop etc I am so happy tucked in my bed. I wasn't always like this when I was working I would be really active but ever-since I've been made redundant in September I've become extremely lazy put on nearly 15kg and had my gallbladder removal surgery. I need to get active but I just can't bring my self to do anything other than wake up shower eat loo breaks and bed that is my day. I am not depressed as I love this but I know deep down this is just wrong. I can usually sleep 14 hours straight also. What should I do how do I break this cycle I've tried alarms nothing motivates me. Has anyone gone through something like this ? Please help! I know my grammar and spelling etc is horrendous so sorry if you had to endure reading this and wanted to kill me lol x

I would suggest seeing your GP.

You mentioned gall bladder surgery & I think there might be a link between gall bladder issues & the inability to process vitamin B12. B12 deficiency can have a vast amount of symptoms that affect you at varying times after your B12 drops low. Not being able to get out of bed & sleeping for 14 hour stretches could certainly be symptoms of deficiency- ask your doctor to check your B12, also Iron & folate too

Thank you for your response, as a matter of fact I went to my gp yesterday and I will be having a full blood scan on the 19th. I was just not sure whether this is psychological or whether I am making myself more ill by being simply lazy. I really want to get up and do stuff I just can't get myself to stop feeling lethargic and overly happy in bed. I just want to get up again and do something that's not lying down

I have done a few applications for part time positions as when I was made redundant I went for another position like a rebound which I hated and worked very long hours..but I became ill and they sacked me.. In terms of illnesses I suffer quite a few the gallstone issue was a year old and got it removed end of October, I suffer from chronic migraines which when they start I am bound to a soundless dark room for days on end (have seen a neurologist whose forgotten me) I had an abcess in my throat two years ago and since I get tonsillitis every 6-7 weeks the surgery for this was supposed to be in April but it was clashing with my wisdom tooth removal (because I have a tmj which was made worse when a patient I looked after punched me and fractured my jaw two years ago whilst full time studying for my final year exams) I am waiting for my jaw to be moved forward and also my tonsillitis op was booked for Oct clashing with gallbladder surgery so now am on a waiting list again. So I've got a fair share of horrible illness that meant I kept needing to take time off work and employers don't really like this.

Sorry I didn't answer all your questions I live with my partner who works from home I used to clean every day now I let it build until I have a heart attack and get frustrated, the days people do come round I kind of worry because usually they are unannounced and so I tend to not open the door and I feel guilty because this is not like me at all to not hoover and mop every day I had a 30 minutes routine which would get all the chores done now I just hide in bed and wait for the day to go. I do feel bad I don't want to stay like this I feel bad when I wake up in the morning and all night and yet I do nothing.

Your liver will have taken over some of the functions of the gallbladder once removed. But if you're unwell, its going to be under a certain amount of strain.

Regarding your tonsils, these are part of your lymphatic system. It sounds as though your lymph fluid movement may be sluggish. The only way to improve this is by physically moving your body as lymph is pumped around in this way. So you're not doing your body any favours by lying still.

It's not that hard to do quick activations. Jumping on the spot or better still, on a trampoline or little rebounder trampoline. Short bursts are better than longer ones. You only need to start with say 30 seconds if that's all you can manage.

I'd also get a full mot if you can. Tiredness and weight gain can also be a sign of underactive thyroid - as well as b12 and iron deficiency as mentioned above.

I've read that cholacol supplements are good for people with no gallbladder. It apparently helps to digest fats. Don't know if it works.

Your throat sounds very inflamed. What is the prognosis post tonsillectomy?

Tmj problems will be contributing to migraines. My jaw is out. I have massages with a very specialised massaged therapist, who has specific training. It helps.

You say you're sleeping loads and don't want to move. How much energy do you have?

Excuse my not reading everything, I haven't slept yet & going a bit cross eyed

But definitely make sure that B12 is on that blood request form, as it isn't a stand blood test & too often doctors don't realised the implications of it or understand the blood tests speaking from experience after 14 years misdiagnosed & a 8 month fight to get DD tested & treat get a print out of your results too. There is no nationally accepted level for B12, so it's a bit of a post code lottery as to how easy diagnosis is, plus the tests are not that reliable anyway. Anything under 500 could give you symptoms, but your GP will tell you any thing over 200 or less is "normal"

Chronic Migraine is another symptom of B12 deficiency, it's one of a few misdiagnosis I was given, my migraines have improved quite a bit since starting treatment with B12 injections & that's even though other health problems mean I cannot take enough just yet. DD hasn't had a headache at all since her B12, 2 weeks loading dose, that was after 4 years of solid non stop headaches.

I do agree with PP about thyroid tests though, they are often linked. My DDs thyroid was out of range, so was her liver & some bone profile stuff - all normalised again after her B12 injections & her health improved massively

Agree with Rockin about what doctors consider "normal". I got normal in some ranges and need certain supplements - and most not ones you can get from the chemist as I can't process them. I'd also get your vit D checked. This will also causes fatigue if low.

Gosh thank you so much for all your responses.. I am still on a waiting list for tonsillectomy. My doctor did say she will be checking for b12 I do have beta thalesemia. I recently had a test for thyroid that came out normal. I woke up today with tonsillitis again I just feel drained. I am going to look into that cholacol supplement never heard of it before. I usually have vit D deficiency which I supplement all the time with. I started having migraines when I was 9/10 yrs old and progressively got worse I am 25 now and honestly I would prefer having surgery every day rather than that pain. My doctor said I haven't had a full blood scan in over a year and because she and dear NHS considers me an at risk patient she said she would test for everything but it's all the way on the 19th which means I won't have the results til end of December. When I do sudden jumping around I feel like my heart is going to leave my chest as my body is literally a statue since a few months
