Six days after gastroenteritis - terrible heartburn. Any suggestions?

I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some advice!

I had a very severe but short-lived stomach bug last weekend (vomited 30 times in 12 hours) following which I was badly dehydrated and ended up being admitted to hospital for Sunday and Monday with intravenous rehydration fluids.

Since then I have been trying to build up to eating something resembling my normal diet and yesterday managed a relatively normal day of food:

Porridge for breakfast
Chicken and mashed potato/butternut squash for lunch
Toast for tea

I haven't eaten anything more interesting than that all week and have only drunk water and the occasional weak Ribena.

But I have terrible, almost constant, burning in my throat which I assume is heartburn.

I can't take Gaviscon because it has Xanthan Gum in it which I'm intolerant to.

Can anyone suggest anything that is good to eat or drink to help? Or any other medications that might help?

I'm pregnant which might be adding to the heartburn problem.

I'm also concerned because I'm supposed to be taking baby aspirin for a blood clotting disorder but I know that until I sort this heartburn problem out that trying to take aspirin is a bit of a lost cause.

Ranitidine or omeprazole might be good. They work the reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces rather than neutralizing tale acid already there. You can buy them both over the counter but might be worth speaking to the pharmacist to check if they're ok for your allergy and pregnancy? I find milk helps with heartburn but other people find it does the opposite!

Thanks Iwillrun

I've been finding that plain yoghurt is soothing and its good too as it has probiotics which I know my gut will need at the moment!

I've requested a call back from my GP to see what she thinks the best medication might be in my situation.
