Cough and cold - honey and lemon??

MumofthreeandBean · 13/11/2016 08:25

I'm nearly 12 weeks pregnant and have the worst cough and cold, I'm taking paracetamol but obviously it's not touching my sore throat, cough etc.
People always say try honey and lemon but how do you make it up? What sort of lemon? Fresh or bottled??
Sorry if I seem silly but we never had honey and lemon as a kid

Chop a quarter of a lemon and about an inch piece of fresh ginger and put in a cup. Squeeze in the juice from another quarter lemon and top up with boiling water. Leave to infuse and when it's almost at drinking temperature add a teaspoon or two of honey (Manuka honey if you have it)

Great for sore throats and colds - not sure if there's actual scientific basis but always makes me feel better!

Put the juice of one fresh lemon or 2-3 tablespoons of bottled lemon juice into a cup or mug, fill with boiling water, add one or two teaspoons (or more) of honey to taste.

It's like making a cuppa with a teabag or instant coffee, but as you won't be adding cold milk you'll need allow it to cool a bit before drinking/sipping.

When I feel a cold coming on I put double the amount of lemon juice in my first mug and I add a tot of whisky when making it as a soothing bedtime drink.

'Grated soup' is restorative and easy to swallow. Grate one onion, one carrot, and one potato into a saucepan. Add a pint or two of water and a couple of vegetable or chicken stock cubes. Bring to the boil and simmer until vegetables are soft. Serve in a bowl and add seasoning to taste. This is my 'go-to' comfort food when I'm feeling under the weather.

Flowers Hope you feel better soon.
