It's gone, no strings, no evidence of it, it's stuck inside me....and I'm panicking I've searched old threads (no pun intended) and squatted, bathed, furtled around but can't bloody find it. What do I do now? I put it in about 6 hours ago, went to gym, pottered about just about to go on a transatlantic flight and I can't find it. Im due to bleed very heavily, can I put a new one in anyway? It must be in there as I'm not bleeding at the moment. Then when I get home I can't see a nurse as it's the weekend....what do I do????

Are you really sure you are wearing it? If so, walk in center or OOH? It needs to be removed. I wouldn't put a 2nd one in but go for sanitary towels. hope it gets sorted.

troubleatmill2011 · 21/10/2016 21:18

Are you sure it didn't come out when you went to the toilet on its own, I've had this and not realised?

lougle · 21/10/2016 21:24

If it's not there, it's not there. Logically, if you're going to bleed and it's there, it's going to swell and expand. But if you're not bleeding at the moment, you shouldn't be using tampons at all. I'd use a towel for now, then if you start bleeding switch to a tampon. If it's there it will make itself known.

Go to an A&E and get it taken out
This happened to me and can be very dangerous if left there!

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 21/10/2016 21:31

If you think it is still inside see your GP/ nurse/ visit a GUM clinic as they can use a speculum to see inside and find it

They can occasionally get wedged in

Retained tampons can be a cause of serious infection (TSS) so don't just assume it has fallen out, if you think it is inside do get checked

I would use a pad in the meantime

Butternutsqoosh · 21/10/2016 21:34

When I say I'm not bleeding I mean I'm not on my heaviest day but bleeding enough to use a tampon. However not bleeding because there's a tampon in me somewhere! I'm about to get on a plane so can't go anywhere except back to uk, will use a pad overnight and see what happens, maybe the air pressure will squeeze it out! And I can't not go, I'm a flight attendant! I'll have to deal with it when I get home...thanks for replies

Please be careful, as some of the other posters have mentioned toxic shock caused by leaving them in too long can be serious.

magicstar1 · 21/10/2016 21:41

Did you have a wee? I had a heavy flow and one just slipped out during a wee and I didn't notice. I ended up going to the hospital to get checked but it was gone

CannotEvenDeal · 21/10/2016 21:42

If it were in there, it would likely reek really badly Shock

CannotEvenDeal · 21/10/2016 21:42

Eventually I mean! Not after 6 hours!

Butternutsqoosh · 21/10/2016 21:46

I've been reading about the smell...eeew, so I guess it will become obvious at some point but I'm aiming to get medical intervention before that point! I'm not sure I've weed it out, I'm sure I'd notice....I won't panic about toxic shock. Much.

Have a long soak in the bath and the water will make it heavy and easier to find and remove.

If it's there is there, it can't disappear unless it came out in the loo.

Wallywobbles · 21/10/2016 21:48

I have put a second one in and when I pulled it out the second ones string appeared. It's worked 2x and once was this evening. The first time they came put together iirc. Hope that helps.

Aquamarine70 · 22/10/2016 13:41

I have used the Libra applicator once. When I had pushed it in I just threw the applicator in the bin but the tampon was still in it & I hadn't realised. It was only when i could feel i was bleeding not long after that I checked. Could that maybe have happened?

Mrsderekshepard · 24/10/2016 22:38

Did you find it?

carmenta · 24/10/2016 22:41

The link between toxic shock and tampon usage is a bit dubious, isn't it? I didn't think there was good scientific evidence for it.
