Am turning into a hypochondriac

I am never ill,but recently have had one thing after another. It started about 2 weeks ago with wobbliness & being unsteady on my feet, which my GP diagnosed as Labrynthitis.A week later I was no better & so exhausted I was sleeping during the day when DD did.(Have never had to do this before).Went back to Doc's who said that it can take weeks to clear up & to go back if I was still wobbly in another fortnight. The wobbliness comes & goes, but thank goodness, the exhaustion has abated.

Now I have an upset stomach, period turned up early despite being on the pill & one of my legs feels distinctly odd.It felt like my skin was crawling & sort of shivery & as I was trying to get to sleep last night, kept jerking & waking me up.Today it feels slightly pins & needlesy & a little bit numb.

I am reluctant to go back to my Dr's,as although he is lovely & very helpful,I think it is my imagination running wild & convincing me to read something into symptoms that ordinarily I wouldn't even notice.I hate being like this & don't want to waste the Drs time & have him think that I'm a hypochondriac too.

Not sure why I posted here really, just wanted to get it out of my system.

Mirage, I can commiserate. Two years ago I had labyrnthitis out of the blue. It was truly horrible. A few days after the onset, I also had patchy numbness in my arms and legs. This threw me a bit because obviously it was not related to the inner ear problem. I had lots of intermittent tingling and strange numbness in my arms and legs. I was convinced I had some nasty neurological problem. I lost quite a bit of weight and sleep due to the anxiety. I eventually had an MRI scan of both head and back, tons of blood tests, and a nerve conduction study, all of which were normal. The symptoms went on for 12 weeks and gradually stopped. Thankfully I have never had anything like this since.
You will find that the symptoms of labyrnthitis will drag on for several weeks. Don't hesitate to see your G.P. about other worries. Hope this makes you feel better.

Thanks efmach-I haven't come across anyone else who has had this wretched thing. At least I won't worry quite so much if it drags on for a few weeks now.

This is a new one to me, Mirage. What is it?

Hi Strangerthanfiction.

I am not quite sure, but it is something to do with fluid or infection of the inner ear.It can affect your balance & make you very nauseous(luckily I was spared the puking).Mr Dr said that it can cause full blown attacks of vertigo too.

I have had a cold, which has probably been the cause.I saw my Aunt today & she had it a while back & just woke up one day,not being able to walk straight & being violently sick. She was convinced she'd got a brain tumour & I can understand why - it's very unnerving.
