Carbon monoxide.. Sorry if this is the wrong thread

Hi all

Sorry if this is the wrong thread I have no idea where else to put it?
Anyway I am getting a new carbon monoxide alarm today as surprise surprise we don't have one in our house! I am having a baby next month so I really don't want to take the risk of not having one. The only problem is my kitchen is quite small it has a boiler in there as well as a cooker etc and it was recommended not to put it in there as it will most likely set it off due to cooker emitting small amount of Carbon monoxide and it will be a nuisance. My living room is literally next door to the kitchen so shall i put it in the living room but right next to the kitchen?
