Yukky, mucusy nappies - bleargh

Help! Ds is having some very yukky nappies - lots of mucus and v. smelly - lovely!

GP, HV and NHS Direct all say it was probably the formula (SMA Progress) so we stopped that and moved him onto just cow's milk and 2 bfs a day (he's just about 12 months). Everything seemed back to normal for the last couple of days and then this morning another really mucusy one (sorry!)

Any ideas? He seems completely fine 'in himself' no illnesses, no sore bum, eating normally, no more whingey than usual . Am worrying myself stupid about some bizarre intestinal problem though...
