How does Chicken Pox start?

There has been a sign at dd's school warning that a couple of children have had it and last night I saw a few red spots on her.
This morning there are a few more. They are quite small but one of the has gone a bit red around it. She doesnt seem to be scratching.
Will she be contagious now or has that passed now the spots have come out?

small red spots which turn into tiny blisters and come out in "crops". Only really get itchy after the blister has burst.

often accompanied by low grade fever, fatigue and being generally off-colour.

DS's started with a few on day 1 - by day 3 they were covered with hundreds of spots by day 6 all black/crusty and no longer contagious.

i think you have it...
it tends to start with just a couple of red spots which can be ignored, then a few more, and then a few more etc etc before they become blistered/bigger then crusty.

DD1 wasn't particularly ill at all with it.

one of the early spots often becomes bigger "the Queen"!

Hope she gets over it soon, it can often be very mild. Just frustrating to try and sort out the childcare when you're working.

Has dh had it?
if so, he isn't contagious. you can't "carry" it as such, he's only contagious if he hasn't had it himself and therefore may be incubating it.

I think he has but I'm not 100% sure. Like I said on the other thread, I know his sister has had it 3 times and a friend of mine has had it twice so I know it can be caught more than once.

She seems ok atm. Running around etc.
