Threadworms.... Or something else?!

Hello,

I've turned to here as I don't feel like I have a good enough relationship with my own parents to talk about these things (but that’s a whole different story!). This might be a bit long but please do take a few minutes. If you can help, I’d be so appreciative!

July last year I found a worm on the toilet paper and went in to melt down. I took an Ovex tablet and changed underwear daily and every night, washed sheets, dusted, used my own towel etc which seemed to help. Parents took a tablet too and so did my boyfriend. However, I read a lot of threads online that suggested the tablets didn’t work or they were impossible to get rid of so I don’t know whether that planted a seed in the back of my head.

I have thought on and off since then that I still have them / never got rid of them / re-infected myself. I have taken endless packets of Ovex which doesn’t seem to do anything anyway. When I first had them, I can remember feeling them crawling and moving around which was horrible. I still have ‘crawling’ feelings but not just at night, all during the day too, which makes me think is it still worms or something else? The feelings are more on the outside and I'll get one feeling, and then it'll stop. Nothing like I remember. Whenever I feel like I can feel something, I’ll crouch over a mirror (cringe) and have a look but can never see anything that resembles that worm I first saw last year. I sometimes see off white flakey bits, almost dot like, but from what I can see, nothing ever moves. More resembles dandruff or flakey dry skin. I know I have a few hemorrhoid's so could these be the culprit?

I started to use moist toilet wipes so wonder if it’s an irritation from those but I stop using them for a few days and it doesn’t seem to make a difference so..? I have noticed since I had them, I now very regularly get small tears around my anus so I wonder if this has something to do with it? I’m not really itchy, but I can’t remember being itchy when I last had them. But I get these uncomfortable feelings all day, most days now. Doctors are useless so I don’t even want to waste time on them. I am so anxious about it. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about those little bs!!! It’s affecting my sleeping now. I wake up feeling on edge and uneasy, just waiting to feel them. I just don’t know what to do now!

Last year I was in a really dark place for a good few months with paranoia and feeling sick at the thought of them. I am better now but I am going mad with what this could be. Yeast overgrowth? Worms? Something to do with the tears? Hemorrhoid's?

Any advice you might have, I would appreciate! I am due to go travelling soon and don’t want this hanging over my experience. Just want my sane mind back!!!!

Go see your GP. Get a professional in to settle your nerves.

If you're imagining it they'll sort you out. If it's real they'll give you something to get rid. If it's something else hopefully they'll identify it.
