Raised white blood cell count and "elavated LDH" - can anyone advise on my 3yr old's blood results?

Hello, I'd be very grateful for anyone who can advise.

My ds has been off-colour for some time now; constant fatigue, nosebleeds, intermittent fever etc. He recently had a full blood count and I've just been told that he has a raised white blood cell count and elevated LDH. We go back later this week for another blood test.

Can anyone shed any light onthese results and what the next round of tests are likely to be? I've googled and now wish I hadn't which is why I'm here now

TIA

elevated ldh and high white cell count can simply mean an infection, possibly the want to run more tests to find out where, good luck xx

Thanks for that nailpolish. I'm really hoping it's just an infection-I think I got a bit of a shock as the consultant's secretary had previusly passed on to us that the tests were are clear! xx

rabbitrabbit when DS had an infection and was not eating or drinking he had raised white cell and elevated LDH. They then did tests on water sample etc and said he had high levels of ketones but would just be due to whatever infection he was fighting. Never found out where infection was but he was better within a couple of weeks.

raised ketones happens when you havent eaten in a while

hi rabbit

lab tests online are good for blood test info but I imagine a lot of the markers are different for children anyway

good that they are doing another blood test - are you going back to the GP or the consultant (where did you go in the end)?

Thanks everyone. We have another blood test on Friday and then an appt with the consultant sometime after that-though we do have question which we would lik answered on Friday; thanks for the support though and I will post back how he got on.

Hi Fox. Thanks for the link. We went to Kingston, had out first appt on Dec 28th and we've been back a few times since. To be fair the consultant has been great but I was a bit thrown by the change in results I think. Hope you're doing ok x
