Understanding my ultrasound - polyps??

Brief history: I have had irregular bleeding for about a year, spotting between periods. The past cycle, I had a regular period, 10 days off and then started spotting. I've been spotting for 4 weeks now (with a short period of heavier bleeding this past week). Have been thinking it may be polyps, mainly due my endless mumsnet research!

GP referred me for a pelvic ultrasound. Had it done this morning and was told that results would go to my GP within the week. During the scan she called out two numbers to the other technician: "12.5 right, 8.5 left". Stupidly, I didn't ask any questions. Does anyone know what these numbers might mean??

I'm so anxious about the results and had worked myself up so much for the scan today that I don't think I can wait a while extra week to know what they found!

Any help or similar experiences would be lovely!!!

I had the same scan last week. They take all sorts of measurements including the lining if your womb lining, ovaries and any cysts or fibroids. I'm afraid the measurements could be anything good or bad so you'll have to wait for the full report. Though when I had a cyst they did tell me there and then and showed it to me on the screen and told me the size etc And when I asked did you find any fibroids the technician told me "no". Hope you get the results you want x

Thanks both! I really wish I had asked questions at the time, but I had filled my bladder so much all I could think about was going for a wee!!

My GP can't see me for two weeks so I've got a long anxious wait :(

Oh wasn't it an internal ultrasound? All the ones I've had for gynae issues have been internal and the bladder has to be empty.

It was a pelvic ultrasound, not an internal one. I was hoping for an internal one as it seems like they are better at picking these things up. Hoping if nothing shows up on this one, they'll send me for internal!
