Microscopic blood in urine and now discomfort on sex

Hi have commented on someone else's thread about the blood and that has been going on since June when I had yet again another bout of cystitis. This was then accompanied by yet more thrush which I have had on and off for 2 years. Been tested for STIs etc and all clear. Had blood tests for diabetes more than once. Really worried about the blood in wee as obviously assuming the worse. Currently no burning or any uti symptoms. Now last night really uncomfortable on my right side during sex so panicking even more. Anyone had anything at all like this or any level headed people offer advice? Really struggling to tell myself to stop worrying. Thank you Smile

Microscopic blood in urine is a lot more normal than people think.
In older people who also have risk factors, it can of course be a sign of bladder cancer. But it's highly unlikely in younger women. usually it's a 'remnant' of a bladder infection when the bladder is still inflamed. Women with IC or Painful Bladder Syndrome often have this as the lining of their bladder is leaky and microscopic blood can be there all the time.
I suspect your bladder is not fully recovered from the infection, or you still have an infection. The other possibility is endometriosis- it can grow in the bladder and be painful during sex.

Thanks Polly that's interesting. I have often wondered about endometriosis as I have very heavy and painful periods since my c sections. Hopefully will be a bit clearer next week at doctors

Hi, have you had your urine sample sent to the lab?

Reason I say this I've been going through all this recently exactly like you microscopic blood in urine etc. I had a tender feeling on the front vaginal wall (couldn't insert a tampon without wincing) had pain on urinating but no infection apparently.

My doctor then sent a sample to the lab and it came back showing infection and no blood at all. He's since given me a longer course of antibiotics and I'm on day 4 and feel like a different woman.

Heavy painful periods and deep pain during sex can be indicative of endometriosis being present.

Tanfastic I saw your previous thread and am really glad you are feeling so much better. Hoping on Monday I can say about getting it sent away if needs be too.

Thanks meerkat

So still blood in urine. Last sample apparently not tested at lab but one before in June was and said no infection yet it hurt like hell?! And antibiotics cleared it up. Another sample being sent off and go back again next week. Apparently I have had lower kidney function since 2006?!

Oh no how annoying'

Well I've finished my course now and I'm not convinced it's completely gone, still feel a niggle now and again.

I've got an appointment to see the nurse on Wednesday but I really hope they give me some more antibiotics as I'm on holiday next week.

Minime iv got kidney disease(genetic) the only reason it showed up because i was pregnant and had blood(microscopic) and protein in my urine which didn't dissappear after pregnancy. Ended with two kidney biopsys which showed after four different diagnosises that i have thin membrane disease. If you have just been told u have lower kidney function, u should be getting seen by a renal specialist surely? Hopefully u will get sorted out xx
