Anyone else have dentures at a young age?

So I've avoided the dentist for so long due to fear and also fear of being judged. I've always had bad teeth since I was a child. Anyway I'm in pain now with my teeth and know I have to go. I have an appointment for September 2nd. I have a feeling I will need all my teeth removed and will need dentures. I am only 28. I am worried about what I will look like with dentures. Does it really make you look old? Does your bone really disappear that much? Anyone else have dentures so young that can reassure me it's not all bad? I can't afford implants and never will be able to afford them. I'm worried I will look really different.

You sound so worried. I just wanted to say that you don't know yet what the dentist will say, and they really will do everything they can to save your teeth. I neglected my teeth as a child and am paying the price now, but my dentist has been brilliant.

I'm older than you, but have had a denture since the age of 45. It looks absolutely fine, and no-one apart from my DH knows that I have it, so don't worry about how it looks. I will say though, that I really don't like wearing it, it's uncomfortable and if I could turn the clock back I would. As it happens, I logged onto mn to start a thread about denture alternatives.

I hope you find yourself a lovely, patient dentist that can help you.

Yes I've always had bad teeth since childhood as well. I don't know what they will say. I just don't went to lose my teeth but it's looking that way.

I actually thought the opposite about them making you look old. Apparently a good fitting denture can make you look younger. I'm sure I read that somewhere.
