I've had piles post pregnancy before which were sore and uncomfortable but not too bad and managed with painkillers, creams and baths etc. I have one now, despite trying to drink plenty of water, eating beg and having high fibre cereal, that is clearly a thrombosis (it's solid, purple and the size if a marble) and it fucking hurts. It kept me awake half the night.

Is this likely to disappear on its own if I'm patient and keep up the good diet and keeping the area clean or am I best to get a doctor on it sooner rather than later?

If it's too much, get it seen. They might be able to get it sorted for you

Dr can prescribe strong and effective cream which should deal with it much better than over the counter stuff.

Omg that pain is like no other. Mine was only relieved when it burst. I think gp can lance it if needed. I put ice in a cloth on mine and got prctosedyl suppositories.

Oh no you poor thing. They are worse than childbirth. Ice in a flannel on the area works, until you can get to doc then hopefully they will prescribe you lidocaine cream it will numb it until it goes down.

I was brave and saw the doctor who was about my age and very good and put me right at ease by judging me, correctly, to be the sort who likes to laugh through things.

Anyway, she's prescribed super strong cream as it's only a bloody thrombosis, but I can't get it from the chemist until tomorrow as they had none.

Fingers crossed it works as if not I'm looking at surgery it's that bad Shock

Thanks for the supportive posts.
