Slipped disc in back and caring responsibilities

I've got a slipped disc in my back and I am just wondering how long it will take to get better? Is there anything I can do? I have a severely autistic 14 year old dd and at the moment I can't run after her or make the usual movements necessary. She won't sleep by herself and insists on lyIng on me at night which I can't do at the moment because it's too painful. Most of the time I can cope with her.

I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow to ask what can be done. Her dad can have her some nights but he works long hours. My mum has had her for one night when she apparently slept fine but she's saying she doesn't want to have her for any more nights because 'she shouldn't have to' and that she's going to ring social services and ask for her to be taken away. I'm really upset about this. I've tried ringing the place where she goes for respite twice a month but they say they're at full capacity.

Has anyone else been in this situation?

Social services would be helping you, not 'taking her away'.
Your Mother sounds awful.
Can your GP expedite a physio appointment?

Yes, I'm going to the GP tomorrow to ask about physio. There must be something I can do to help it heal I guess. At the moment I'm on a load of codeine and diazepam and feel really spaced out as well. But it is agony.

Don't forget to eat lots of oranges and fibre or that codeine will bung you up.

I know - it's awful - makes me bloated. Thanks fusspot.
