ok so in teh grand scheme of things its not all bad i mean its bloody cold outside and if its not raining its blowing a gale BUT both DSs have chicken pox (one is 3.9 and the other 21 months) and already i am going stir crazy! Have been inside since friday afternoonexcept for a small play in the garden. Runout of things for them to do. DS1 not ill with it just whiney but DS2 is suffering. Any ideas of things do keep them occupied happy and not fighting? Am climbing the walls!!!!

Got any videos they haven't seen for ages? Play doh? Painting? Computer for the 3 yo - my 3 year old sat for 2 hours on the pc today (bad mother alert )

I have to say, when mine had chicken pox, I took them out but then they weren't ill with it.

DD would be an absolute nightmare about no preschool... I had to tell her it was closed for "a special holiday" today as if I tell her she's too poorly she announces "I better now!!!" and then sobs for school all day.

Can I send mine round to play.

I'd quite like them both to get The Pox asap.

Ugh! I am beginning to feel your frustration! Running out of ideas here...

Ever thought of putting them in the bath in the middle of the day, not to wash, but just to have fun playing with empty bottles, squirty things etc?

MerlinsBeard · 22/01/2007 19:54

thats a good idea, will gather the (clean) plastic bits from the recycle bin and they canhave thos ein tehre. That solves 2 things at once !! bath and something to do!

trying to think of somewere we can walk to if its not bitterly cold. And assuming ds2 isn't in i have to be touching mummy mode.

Ooooh, send me chicken pox vibes!! Wanting my two to get it over and done with!

Not sure what to suggest though Mom. We would be ok here as C already wants to watch the Thunderbirds movie 15 times a day! You could take them out for a walk in the fresh air. Thats if O is up to it, of course. You are unlikely to infect anyone as long as you aren't in a confined space. Are there none of your friends who want their small people to get it? (Bar mine but of course you are waaaay too far away )

Oh I am glad I came up with one good idea in the end!

I don't know whereabouts you are in the country, but round my way (south west) it is absolutely freezing and I wouldnd't take an ill child out unless necessary - my youngest has a terrible cough right now and I bundled him up in loads of woolies and stuck him in the pushchair (yes, he is nearly 4, so what? he is ill) to take him 5 minutes down the road to do the school run.

I don't usually object to walking but its so bloody cold out there lol! i can put DS2 in the trolley but i don't think i would get far b4 the whining started.

No thanks to the nasty coldy buggy thing, Flame! Not saying that MoMs germs are superior to yours, but I do have to draw the line somewhere

MoM, still loving your 'trolly' Can't help but imagine you plonking your boys in a Sainsburys trolley and wheeling them off to the park!!

I could do with mine having Chicken Pox, I might actually get something done as I wouldn't be able to go out to escape the housework!

Could you tell D to go to sleep please? Tis DH's fault for hyping them up half an hour before bedtime Driving I mad it is!!!!

Report
Flamesparrow · 22/01/2007 20:10

I love the trolleys too

If yours get pox I need to come rub my babies over them straight away... B's never had it despite being around it lots and I'm starting to wonder about freakish immunity (boy's not had it either)... would be a good experiment

LOL, MoM. Don't ever stop saying trollies. Tis great!

Flame, will let you know the instant mine get the pox. B might have an immunity. Mind you, A best friend didn't get it for years and years, with us thinking he was immune, but he got it last year at 12. I just know mine will get it in that week when I really don't want them to, bound to.
When you coming to visit anyway?

MoM, board that train!!!!

MOM I know how you feel 13 month old ds has the pox too thankfully only has a few spots. DD started with a snotty nose, not feeling well yesterday and i've kept her off preschool in case it's the start of the pox as there's a little boy in her class going through cancer treatment.

I managed to squeeze in a workout when ds was sleeping and dd was on the computer and now feel much better and less housebound but it's not nice is it?

At least mil is looking after them for an hour tonight so we can go and play badminton.
