I have had ongoing problems with stomach pains for a while, I have been to my GP several times and he keeps putting it down to kidney problems ( I am waiting for a scan ) but I'm sure that there is another issue. Occasionally I get really bad stomach pains, the only way to describe them is 'labour pains', they come in waves and it often feels like my ovaries are going to burst, it usually happens at night and mid cycle ( I am on the pill so it's not ovulation pains ). Last night I was crying in pain, I took pain killers but they hardly touched it and today I feel bloated and my stomach still aches. I have just been to the loo and noticed a tiny amount of blood when I wipe.

I have been on the pill for almost a year but my last 2 periods have been much lighter ( usually quite heavy ), I'm pretty sure I can't be pregnant as I take my pill the same time every day on the dot, I haven't missed any and haven't been ill. I have felt bloated for the past week.

I am getting worried and my GP won't listen too me, I had a smear last month which came back clear but I am worried that there might be something seriously wrong.

Any ideas what it could be?

Wi have had a few cysts before but none big enough to worry about so it is possible it could be this.

I had blood in my urine sample a few weeks ago but no infection which is why the GP has put it down to that, I am awaiting a CT scan to check my kidneys but I think this is a separate issue ( due to the spotting ) but the GP won't treat it as a separate issue. I am hoping when I get scanned for my kidneys they will check my ovaries and womb.

I feel bloated, I feel the need to pee a lot and some days I struggle to empty my bowels ( will need to go 2 or 3 times ), I also feel more tired than usual.

I think it may be that you have cysts then? mine is 7cm so the GP thinks the gynae will want to do something.
the cysts you had previously may have grown.
its a shame when doctors dont listen! xx

My bladder has been playing up in similar ways, mainly frequency. I think I'll go and see my GP about it. Good luck with yours!

I am involved with ultrasound scans and I reckon a cyst. Make sure when you have the scan you FILL YOUR BLADDER !

GPs are not always up to speed when it comes to such problems and it is very easy to be fobbed off.

Have you heard about when you scan is going to take place?.

GP ought to refer you to a gynaecologist also to see if endometriosis is the root cause (your references to labour pains, pain mid cycle and the pain coming in waves made me think of that). In the meantime I would suggest you keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this as this can provide clues.

I'm 34.

I phoned my go today to check a referral has been made for a scan, they said it has and they will check with the hospital that they'd have received the referral.

I have had ultrasounds in the past and they found a number of small cysts but I was told they were not big enough for concern ( this was 2 years ago ), this time because they think it's a kidney problem they are sending me for a CT scan, I'm not sure if they will check my ovaries ?

If they've asked for a ct abdo/pelvis then they will see your ovaries . If they've just asked for a ct abdo then they won't .
