Hi all, just been for my routine smear test and the nurse said I had a large ( what looked like) a polyp covering my cervix so she couldn't do it. She called a dr to take a look and she's referred me to gynae to be seen in 2 weeks ( urgent???)
Now I've had cancer, I've got various health problems, and whilst this doesn't surprise me ( as nothing's ever right with me), I am worried.
Anyone else had this?
I'm on HRT, Which may have contributed to this "polyp" but obviously, as you do, I'm thinking its cervical cancer.
Please if you've any experience or advice talk me down!!
Thank you Flowers

No personal experience but had a close friend who has the same gynae as me, and she had a cervical polyp.
Do you mean you had cervical cancer or another type?
Polyps are really common if that is any help. 99.9% of the time they are 'nothing'.
I don't think HRT will be the cause. I've been on it for 7 years and have never heard of it growing polyps and my consultant does all my smears anyway so it's something that may have cropped up in conversation. my friend was also on HRT and he didn't draw any link between the two.
She had hers removed as a day case under a GA but that's because it was in quite an awkward place but she was up and off home in the hour almost.
I hope you get on ok- try not to worry.

Thanks polly it's kind of you to answer me. I've had cancer but not cervical, and it was in 1998!
I've had no problems with it, no bleeding or discharge, so hopefully it's a big fat nothing.
Thanks again Flowers
