Short memory loss or blackouts?

One this morning was quite specific.
I am at home this week. Promissed to take my son to school this morning for his catch up gcse session.
We were getting ready. I had my shoulder bag with me. I went to the sitting room.
I can't remember putting my small leather bag on the chair and picking up a canvass bag which was hanging on the chair. I must have picked up that bulky canvass bag, put it on my shhoulder. Walked out of the house talking to my son and 2 min later when searching for keys realised I have a wrong bag!

I can't remember the moment of putting down my leather bag or picking up canvass bag.
I have had missplaced keys incidents kind of scenarios and "where's my wallet" of issues for many years.

There's history of epilepsy in my family if that may be relevant but I never had any symptoms.

I know I can go to my gp to talk about it but would like to hear if anyone has had similar issues and their experiences.

I sometimes feel my brain is too active and jumps all over shop.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Today's episode was most unusual. However my memory was always not too good. Despite being academicaly very able I always was and am struggling to remember names, lists of unrelated items or remember instructions when learning very new skill.

Well I guess you should discuss this with your GP since there is a family history of epilepsy, and the episode was unusual, but if its any help this sort of thing happens to me a lot, and has done for many years! I think it is when I am pre occupied or tired with a lot happening but especially doing routine things- and I suddenly find I can't remember how I got to where I am. I'm quite used to it now!! My GP said I was doing too much and had too much to remember! A friend of mine has similar memory lapses, but hers is due to her low thyroid, so it could be many things.

Descrining it as memory lapses is more accurate.
I have a lot on my mind at present and also finding it hard to get enough sleep.

I tend to have lapses doing the boring regular things- when my brain is on something else or I'm very tired. The clocks going forward may have possibly made you more tired as your body clock may be slightly out of sinc.
