Earache tip from my doctor

DD is down with ANOTHER ear infection but the doctor gave me a good tip which I thought I'd pass on.
The reason the pain is so much worse at night is that they don't swallow as much which allows more pressure to build up in the ear. If they wake up in pain, sit them up and give them sips of water to swallow which should ease it a bit.

I was told to let dd have a sippy cup (Had heard somewhere previously not sucha good idea !), raise her head level (to allow the ear tubes to drain as they do more naturally in the day ), loads of Olbas oil etc and keep room cool. Full dose of Nurofen for a week even if they aren't in pain.
