Bum pain following 3rd degree tear!

OK so I had a 3rd degree tear back in May and since then have assumed I had piles. GP has said I had one old/non-troublesome pile that shouldn't cause problems but prescribed 2 lots of medicated suppositories (one after the other after the first didn't work). When they didn't work I was convinced I had an anal fissure, absolute stabbing agony and lots of blood when pooing, so went back to the GP who had a look and couldn't find anything.

I'm still having physio following a 3rd degree tear from labour, and am having a scan this May to see why I'm still having fecal urgency when my pelvic floor muscles are in good shape. (I changed hospitals since my baby was born so didn't have the normal follow up appt that comes once you've had a tear.)

So it suddenly occurred to me today, maybe the pain I'me experiencing is from the tear, not just preggo piles? Because as I say, the GP says I don't have piles, only one old one.

Can you have a sore bum and pain and blood when pooing because of a 3rd degree tear? I didn't even make the connection until now. My bum is hurting right now as I just sit here typing.

Sorry for the TMI but would be interested in others' experiences.

Yay for Mumsnet, I feel comfortable enough to talk about my torn bum, ha :)

I have no personal experience, but that sounds very painful - sending sympathy. There used to be an ongoing thread for people who had had third/fourth degree tears and I think the guys on there would know. Will google and post it for you.

Ok I've found the old thread and it seems to have stopped now which is annoying. Last thread here:

Might be worth seeing of anything on there helps info-wise/ bumping the old thread with a link to yours to see if anyone replies?

Oh thanks Craster that's really helpful! I'll have a look through that thread. I remember seeing the Ragged Bits threads in active a few years back... Might resurrect it. Thanks for reminder :)
