*down there* looking lumpy and bumpy years after childbirth?!

Hi everyone,
Possible TMI ahead!

I had my son 4 years ago by vaginal delivery - I needed an episiotomy but also tore in a couple of places. The stitch job afterwards wasn't great, and together with my natural tendency to scar badly, I ended up needing corrective surgery a year later to remove scar tissue (which was sore and bleeding) and re-sew the whole thing under general anaesthetic. That surgery was three years ago. I remember looking down there not long after the surgery and just thinking what a mess it all looked - it was a long time before I plucked up the courage to look again. Anyway, to get to the point, in the years between now and then I've been pain-free, so I guess the surgery was a success. But everything down there looks...well, messy. It's as if there's no inner lips, just sort of a hole (I guess they had to remove a lot of scar tissue from there in the corrective surgery?) but just inside the vaginal opening everything looks lumpy - like, several large fleshy lumps, on all sides. They're quite uniform in size and shape (each is a few centimetres or so, I'd guess?) so I just figured that's what it all looks like down there after labour and the corrective surgery and whatnot, so it didn't really worry me. But lately I've been wondering whether it's normal for things to be that lumpy? I know chilbirth can leave things looking a bit butchered for some of us, but I honestly, silly as it might sound, cannot remember what it used to look like before giving birth!! So, I guess I'm wondering whether anyone else has similarly lumpy bumpy bits - is it normal?! I don't think the lumps have changed much over the years since I first noticed them, but I didn't really pay too much attention to them because I assumed it was scar tissue etc, whereas now I've started to panic myself that they're all tumors or something. I need reassurance that this kind of thing is normal! Anyone?

I'd see a doctor and explain how you feel. Mines disgusting since giving birth but it doesn't seem to put my husband off so can't be too bad!! A chat with someone in the know may settle your mind.

I've got lumpy bits as well. I thought it was my bladder falling out and worried about it for years. I had it checked out and apparently it's all quite normal. So pop along to your GP to put your mind at rest.

I had difficult deliveries and episiotomies/stitches with both of mine, years ago (both teens now). My GP did say that my stitches were 'lumpy' but I don't think I have what you describe, although I have to admit I'm too squeamish to have ever actually tried to view my 'undercarriage'.
It's probably nothing but worth a visit to your GP to put your mind at rest.

Could be hymen remnants. They can become a bit stretched in the birthing process and become more obvious. Thats what it sounds like to me.
