just wondered if anyone has this nasty cold virus that's going around at the moment?

My cold started a week ago and this is the second week - I feel tired, congested and lightheaded - have never had a cold that has taken so long to go!

I've got one. It was that bad last week I had to take two days off work...with a cold Confused. I've never had a cold as bad as this, normally sail through them. I'm coming out the other side now though.

Hope you feel better soon!

Have spoken to so many people who have got this - it's really nasty

DH has had this - referred to as "the cold that will not die" in our house. He's managed work, but has been unable to do even gentle exercise for nearly 2 weeks (he is training for a triathlon at the moment so normally doing something 6 days a week).

I've got catarrh as well now which is making me feel really tired; my eyes are sore and also am lightheaded :(

I've got one of those colds. It will probably end, overnight, when my period starts. It's already fooled me, twice, then knocked me for six again, the next morning.

I think it's worse because it's the first proper cold I've had, this winter. This is how I usually spend December.

Me. Just starting to feel human after a fortnight. Haven't had time off but it's been quite hard-going at times. The lack of sleep due to coughing was the worst thing, followed by the ear ache.

Yes, I've had it for about a week now, before this dh had it.
I never usually get colds, haven't had one for years.
This is certainly a bugger to shift, and I missed tea again tonight.
i felt fine until it was time to eat and then felt sick again.
It can't be the flu strain immunised against this year as I had the jab back in october.

Yes. Because I'm very pregnant and breathless I have been given antibiotics for it. I just could not shift it by myself. I'm still feeling very very sorry for myself and I'm well into week 2. It's beyond horrid.

We've all had it. It's horrendous. Somebody told me that they reckon it's actually Swine Flu!

It's horrible. I think it is actually flu as well. DH had it the week before last and I've had it this week. I'm feeling a bit better now - I'm OK if I don't move!

I had it for 3 bloody weeks, I want to say it was more flu like than a cold as I had 4 days where I literally couldn't get out of bed, it was horrendous.
Headaches, body aches, cough, dizziness, completely lost my voice, sore throat, runny nose, bleurgh Envy

I hope you're feeling much better soon OP

I've had the flu jab too, but they don't always get the mix right. I cannot wait for it to go.

My ear keeps getting blocked and then I get ringing in it like tinnitus - it's 10 days now since this started :(

I had the same thing with my ears and they are still not quite right. Blowing my nose is now helping to unblock them, but only temporarily.

Yes the dizziness is the worst, I had to get a colleague to drive me home from work at lunchtime as I felt so faint.

Now got the sinus pain - my eyes hurt so much I can barely keep them open.

Combined this with a sickness bug yesterday and I'm feeling pretty rotten!

Yes - I had the dizziness and tinnitus, the doctor said it's viral labyrinthitis. Mine's been going for 3 weeks (with the dizzy, spaced out,ear ringing feeling for about 10 days)

Oh yes. Didn't realise this was a thing. I'm into week 3 of the cold from hell. Tried everything; lemsips, paracetamol, Vicks vapor rub, wet socks in bed, smelling salts, mega hot curry, chicken soup, whiskey, vitamin c, you name it. It's the catarrh that's the worst. Feel like swapping my head a la Worzel Gummidge.

Yes started Mon night. Thought I'd missed colds this year but think I've caught it off my bloody decorator who had it last week! Had to go out this morning and got caught in the unexpected snow storm which hasn't helped!

Yes I've had it since last Thursday. I'm never sick ever, but this has WIPED me out! I've never had anything so bad in my life. Today's the first day I've been able to get out of bed. Awful. Oh and I managed to pass it on to DD. So I'm also having to nurse her. Poor girl looks like death warmed up. I have to go to work tomorrow 30 miles away so I am dreading the drive! Flowers

Yes all had it in our household, it has been going on for weeks, my two youngest had a vommitting bug, which then transpired into a chesty cough. Since then we have all had chesty coughs, I had laryngitis, now just a phlegm type cough.
My husband is really light headed, coughing, exhausted etc, he works horrendously long hours which doesn't help with trying to get over it.
It has been a nightmare few months Angry
