Pain/discomfort when urinating

I'm getting a pain in my pelvis/bladder when I urinate. There's no stinging or problem when I pass water, it just feels like a horrible ache is happening in my bladder as I urinate which gets momentarily worse when I've finished weeing.

What could this be? It's horrible!

My wee looks fine, straw coloured, enough of it, doesn't smell. I'm going regularly but not too much. Definitely no STI's 5 years since I last had sex

I'd say first thing to rule out is a UTI, have you got a walk in centre near you? If so just go along with a sample and they'll test it for you straight away and either rule UTI in or out.

Doctor's appointment probably the best option (but round me you have to wait days for one so I use the walk in for routine on the spot tests). UTI's don't always cause stinging when you wee, I've had ones where you get aching like you describe. I find a hot water bottle on your tummy or back can help a bit.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, and don't use any strong scenty products in the shower when you wash that area - they can irritate and make your urethra very sore.

Thanks Kurri. Yes, my doctors is approx a 10 day wait so that's out. I have some urine dipstick things in my medicine cabinet (just remembered). I wonder if they would show anything up?

I can't get down to the walk in centre today as I have to wait in for carpet fitter then kids will be home and I can't leave them (single parent).

Will drink plenty of water and get my hot water bottle out.
