Embarrassing but agony

Gave birth 6 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago started experiencing the most horrendous pain when psasing wind or bowel movement. Took me a week to realise it was probably piles, so started treating as such, still huge pains so started treating for internal piles and still huge pains so I had a look and they are huge (but am sure they weren't there a week ago) and I am in increasing pain before, during and after going to the loo (although farting doesn't hurt anymore!) - I kid you not, it's worse than second stage pushing and nearly makes me cry. Mentioned it at my 6 week check up and the doctor said she thought there may be an anal fissure as well, offered me suppositories but that's it. How long do I continue to suffer before going back? This is getting really bad and am dreading going to the loo more than I was 2 days after birth/stitches etc.... Thanks

I have had horrendus piles throughout thw whole of this pregnancy and envisage they will be worse after this one is born, so I can sympathise.

I would go back to you GP if they are still agony as there are various treatments available to shrink them i.e injections etc.

SIL had them (and she hasn't even had kids yet) I am sure they inject the actual pile to shrink it

Why is it everyone finds the subject of piles really amusing, or is that just those who have never had them.

I spent a whole day in bed last week as I was in absolute AGONY every time I moved or coughed I felt like crying.

What creams are you using?

I have a friend who had to have a haemorrhoidectomy - poor thing, she is a very private, quiet person who had suffered in silence for ages, but collapsed at work barely able to walk any more ... Of course they all knew what was wrong with her by the time she had been in hospital for a week!

Not sure of the relevance really, except to say I sympathise and take piles very seriously these days! And that there are things they can do other than just give painkillers.

i had terrible piles after giving birth to my son five years ago (they never went away but weren;t that bad) they gave me suppositaries i went bacvk because they started to bleed and she wouldn't give me anything other than cream (which just stings)
after the brith of dd 15 months ago they have come back with a vengeance (still won't give me anything for them) every time i go they bleed like mad
i hate my doctor

Proctosedyl - you have to ask the dr as it's prescription only. Absolute godsend for piles. IIRC it's local anaesthetic plus hydrocortisone. I found that it's the only thing that really helped and shrank the piles to a manageable state after giving birth each time.

Please don't be embarassed to ask us - or the dr - we've been through this too, and have every sympathy!

I was using Anusol which had worked whenever I'd used them before birth when they were a bit sore and just itchy, but this is just ridiculous!

Prettycandles, is what you mention a cream? I was thinking that something with a local anaesthetic would be a good idea....

I managed to get hold of Scheriproct cream cos i couldn't use the Schreiproct suppositories as my bum was hanging out so much!! Scheriproct cream really worked wonders and they shrank them in a matter of days after suffering for weeks using Anusol. You have to get it on prescription but its brilliant. I managed to catch a diahorrea bug 2 weeks after the birth when i had piles which was the most excruciating pain ever, going to the toilet ever 10minutes for a week!!! It was definitely worse than my contractions!

I had an anal fissure and have to say its the worse thing that has ever happened to me - eyepoppingly painful!! - you can get special creams to help it heal from your doctor (but be warned the cream they give you will give you a headache - but I'm putting it on my arse I hear you scream - as I did!!) and also take lactose to soften your stools.
