Panicky grandmother - vomiting bug

Don't often post but could really do with advice. Have a grandson of 3 who started with a bad bout of gastroenteritis last Sunday evening. Was very sick through the night, progressively getting worse. Had high temp all day Monday and doctor considered taking him into hospital for dehydration but did eventually late in the day manage to keep liquids down. Spent a lot of Tues retching and generally unwell but seemed to perk up by evening a bit. Then on Wed was sick again on and off all day. Since then has slowly, very slowly, been starting to eat and drink again avoiding dairy. Then last night was violently sick again and although he is drinking today, hasn't passed water for hours which keeps being the problem. Really am worried about him and know my daughter is. He is a very poor drinker even when well and really hasn't been well for weeks since chicken pox.
Any advice please? I'd be really grateful.

I'd take him to the doctor to get him checked over. Seems like he's been ill for a long time.

Yes GP tomorrow and don't take 'no' for an answer from the receptionist.

Well my daughter decided to go to local A&E as just isn't passing anything really. They gave him a good exam and said he isn't technically dehydrated as his responses and skin tone are normal. They said he is just absorbing all the fluid that's going in into his system still due to all he has lost, hence no wee!
They checked his stomach and chest etc etc and said it was just a nasty bug and just keep hoping basically!
So fingers crossed he improves a lot soon! He can't keep any trousers up he's lost so much weight
Thanks to Ghostofmumsnet and ClementClarkMoore for responding, appreciate it

Glad to hear that he's been ckecked and that, although there is no quick fix, he'll be Ok.

Do you know my original post was to go to A&E (then I deleted it!). I never care if they think you're a panicky mum or grandma, just get some peace of mind.

Glad your dd went, at least you can relax a bit knowing he's been checked over.
