Sharp spasm pain left rib.

Two weeks ago I started with a very sharp pain under my left breast, rib area. Almost like a spasm/contraction. Only lasts for a few seconds but is enough to make me stop what I'm doing.

My fibromyalgia is pretty bad atm in that everywhere is sore and I'm beyond tired out but I've never had this rib pain before.

Got an appointment with GP on Thursday but wondered if anyone had had similar!

I get this a lot. I think it's either indigestion or interstitial pain. I believe it's quite common. Also the pain intensifies if you take a big breath. Try not to worry x

Thanks Loose. It doesn't get worse when I breathe in though. I just hold my breath till it has passed. Wondered if it was trapped wind? But would wind keep trapping for 2 weeks?

Thank you itsmine. Good to hear that it was nothing serious. It does feel like a spasm or something that I can just wait till it's passed.
The first time I thought it was my heart. It was so painful. I'll see what the GP says.

I have felt something similar either in the rib muscles or more in my chest- I also have fibromyalgia and have heard others have experience of this as part of the condition- some sites list condro as a related issue like IBS. I find it happens if stressed or during yoga class. Can really make one feel like it's a heart attack but of course that just makes the issue worse if adding stress to the situation. Try to breath through it and I rub the area , put heat on, or cold may help, I have Tens for back and hip pain but I'm not sure if it can be used for ribs, probably not. Yoga , Pilates and meditation are useful tools in the kit to help. Hth
