Just a lorry load of calpol and nurofen syrup!!

apparently they don't give anti-b's straight away for ear infections anymore.
If the pain is still bad after 3 days with both painkillers only then will they give anit-b's.

I can't decide if I think thats a good idea or not...

not sure here either, it's like making them suffer for an extra 3 days.

Quite often antibiotics aren't right for ear infections as they're often not caused by a bacterial infection, but a virus.

Has he had a cold recently? More likely to be a viral thing if he has, I think.

Poor lamb - hope he's better v soon x x x

lots of ear infections going around up here atm. also hand, foot and mouth disease. no anti-b's given for either. have you tried medised?, can help with sleeping at night.

It does sound viral then.

DS3 may well not get the ear infection, LTH - I used to get them all the time and my siblings didn't get them nearly as often.

Hi - my ds has had several ear infections (now has grommetts) - newish thinking is that ABs actually cause glue ear as the effect is to sterilise but thicken the c**p in the ears so that it never drains. DS's ENT consultant was very anti ABs unless last resort. HTH
