zantac - dramatic change?

hi
the impression i get from a lot of postings and my paed is that when the drugs work for reflux they work well - ie you see complete change in your baby.
right now my bubs pattern and he is ten weeks is feed, sleep in short spurts on us (with difficulty - only way to be nursed to sleep) and cry, cry cary - poor lamb. he does have momemnts of happiness where we get the gummy smiles but they are few and shortlived.
i'm wondering what changes other mums have seen in their los? a lot less crying and much better sleeping or are the changes gradual?
would love to hear.
we just started on rantidine and domperidone and really dont feel any changes after a week
