DH lump on testicle - Scan - advice needed

Need some advice. DH found a lump on testicle this weekend. Saw GP on Monday who referred using the 2 week max timescale. Have an appointment next Wednesday, which is fine. The appointment is for a scan. DH doesn't want to tell anyone in real life as it may be nothing sinister and in which case no point. The problem is the appointment is 3.40 in the afternoon and we have three primary aged children, two of whom are in the end of year play that very afternoon. I wanted to go with him - thought this was the right thing to do, but to organise this would necessitate telling someone I think. DH thinks he won't get told anything that day anyway so he can go on his own. Is he right? Will the GP ring if the scan shows anything or could he find out there and then? I don't want him to be alone if he may be told the results, we are optimistic all will be well but you never know. Any advice from someone with experience of this would be great.

Unless he's going to a one stop clinic with a consultant appointment as well s the scan he won't be told anything - just a technician doing a scan which has to go away to be reported on. If it is a one stop thing you should go as he could end up having a needle biopsy and the works ( but still won't be told it is or isn't cancer that will take histology tests on the sample ).

The clinic will be happy to answer -your- his questions . For confidentiality reasons he'll have to do the ringing though.

Thanks very much. Never thought to call the clinic (maybe not thinking straight)!
