What is wroing with me? Ovulation hell.

Has anyone got any good advice/experiences of what seems to be symptoms linked to ovulating?

My periods have always been fine and the only change is that they are slightly more frequent but when I am ovulating, I get horrendous joint pain. In my legs, my fingers and also some back pain. On what i think is the last day of ovulation I feel like I have a viral illness.

I have seen the Doctor and he as ordered blood tests but, to be honest, I felt like he was humoring me and made lots of noises about me being too young for hormonal issues -I am 44. Also, he hasn't specified that the bloods need to be done at a certain point in my cycle so I am wondering whether it is worth having them done when I have no symptoms?

Every month I am miserable, then it passes and I think it's fine but it is starting to get me down. I have noticed I am starting to get anxious as well but I have recently changed jobs so it may just be that.

Have the bloods done, then go back but see a different doctor about the results. Your Dr seems like a right big head

Mad I think a scan might be of use to you as you may have cysts on your ovaries.

It's not normal to have such pain and I think you should push for a gynae appointment. Keep a pain diary and score yourself 1-10 scale : your GP cannot ignore that if you ask that it is included in your records. It also might make him sit up as its evidence should you sue in future.

I have had fainting spells with ovulation, and going on the pill helped tremendously in my 20s and 30s. I also take starflower oil, and up my soya intake.

I'm too long in the tooth for the pill now and notice ovulation again as a dull ache and back pain for three days. A scan showed no cysts, and I'm going back to my doctor to talk about hormonal hrt soon as it's just a pain!

Hope you get some solution- let us know what worked.... Maybe post on the menopause section if you're up to it!!

I'm feeling fed up as well. Iv had a baby six months ago and been irregular bleeding. Dr says my bloods have come back with low estrogen Levels and iv got to have all kinds of investigations. Im very sceared. Can't eat. No proper reassurance from my doctor. She was like a bleeding robot. I'd have got more empathy from a computer. Your not alone with how you are feeling tnonight. I hope we all get there. I do x

Congratulations Jo but sorry you are having issues. I work with lovely Drs but the ones I see as a patient never seem to quite get it. Maybe I play down my symptoms?

Hope you feel better soon Thanks

I'd definitely say that you must play your symptoms down. Go in like I do and start to get upset. If you don't like doing that just ask loads of questions, take someone with you. I got Mr GP to put me on a urgancy list today even when it wasn't urgent because I was so pushy. I said 'on your head be it'. That comment panics them.

Your not too young for hormone issues. I'm twenty five and the Dr was talking about early menopause, so anything can happen. Ur GP was lax. Even if he thinks nothing wrong he should be doing more to put your mind at rest. Out of interest do you work in a Dr surgery?

I feel your pain OP.

I am 29 and I get terrible ovulation symptoms. My abdomen gets so swollen that I go up an entire dress size (it's not fat, honest!) I can go to work in a pair of trousers and by the afternoon I can't fasten them.

I also get a pain in my right side. It's really painful but ordinary paracetamol or ibuprofen doesn't seem to do anything for it.

I had a scan which ruled out cysts but apparently endometreosis won't show on ultrasound (I have period issues too) so I am waiting for another scan for that.

Hope you get your symptoms sorted soon, I kept a diary for 3 months before I went to my GP so they could see I could pin the symptoms down to 3 days mid-cycle.

Following as I have ovulation joint pain. I've been diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome and linked it to this - but I also have joint issues instead of pmt.

I've linked it to rapidly rising / falling hormones at those times after tracking carefully.

Jo, I do, I am a Practice Manager.

I am a terrible patient!!

Had a really bad night and going to ring Monday for an urgent appointment. Everything I am reading about ovarian cysts matches my symptoms exactly.
