Hi I have had some discomfort in a breast for a while and yesterday was told there is a "mass", a very small one, but a mass none the less and today I have to have a biopsy.
I have no idea about any of this, I've never even known anyone to have this, I've been sheltered and lucky.
I'm so scared at what they'll findSad Sad
I'm sorry if I sound naive and I know people are suffering but I can't get the thought of dying out of my head and my children and just my whole life.
I'm going through some very serious relationship problems which I'm trying to support my partner with while wanting to kill him and I have to work full time.
I guess I want to hear stories of biopsies that result in not the C word, I'm so scared, I need some support, I can't stop crying, I'm avoiding my children, I'm lying to them saying everything's fine when my partner has left - it's all such a fucking awful mess.
I'm 35. my children are 18, 16 and 10. they need their mum Sad

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I had a biopsy on a breast lump. It was done with a fine needle, and although it stung a bit I don't think it was much different to having a blood test. It took less than a minute.
Mine turned out to be fine, it was a fibroadenoma, just a fatty fleshy lump which actually spontaneously disappeared a few months later!

Please try and not be scared, which is easier said than done I know. My biopsy didn't end up being cancer and a lot of them aren't. If you're scared when you have it done, then tell the doctors and nurses and they will help you. I did and I had a wonderful nurse who told me to hold her hand while they did the biopsy. I think I squeezed it a bit hard, but she was a great comfort to me.

Keep us informed.

I am also a mum your age and went through this recently. As i understand from my experience, most lumps will have a biopsy because that's the only way they can be sure what it is. I had a hollow needle biopsy. They gave a bit of local anaesthetic to numb the area, so it was just uncomfortable but not painful. I had to wait almost 2 weeks for results but i think other hospitls may ne quicker. If it is a fine needle biopsy i think they can sometime give results on the day.
The best advice i can give you is to please try not to worry. I found it useful to keep reminding myself of this quote "worry does not empty the sorrow from tomorrow. It empties today of its strength". Write it somewhere prominent and enjoy the day.

I hope your mind is put at rest soon & its good news for you.
