I have just had a double whammy of bad health news. I had bleeding in between my periods which I was told was potentially normal at my age as I was probably peri menopausal but I also had some pain (not period pain).
Thankfully I wasn't happy with that so I referred myself to a gynae. They did a smear test plus some other tests.
I am getting dangerously anaemic from my heavy bleeding. They have suggested an endometrial ablation which I am keen to have as my bleeding is a major issue now.
Unfortunately my smear has come back with an abnormal reading plus I am positive for HPV. This means on top of everything else I need a colposcopy.
I went to see the gynae and he recommended that I have the endometrial ablation first. Then 4 weeks after that, the colposcopy when I've recovered. I wanted the colposcopy first but he said that wasn't his recommendation as they need to fix the bleeding issue.
I'm a bit anxious - and it's unlike me to feel anxious about health stuff. Something that is worrying me is say I have endometrial cancer - (I have been having weird symptoms, they did a scan and it showed no abnormalities), they said the endometrial ablation can mask the signs of it - do you think I should ask for the cells to be checked when they do the ablation?
I have a bad feeling about the whole thing tbh....
