what does this mean? platelets

My GP said that my platelets are a weird shape.
I know I have anaemia off and on and always have..but is this all she meant? I wish I'd asked!

Has GP metioned Pernicious anaemia?

I think it is when your body does not probably absorb iron through digestion so people are usually treated with iron injections. Not 100% (so read up - its not scary) but I was tested for it last year after being told I had problems with my platelets. I was clear on Pernicious but had very very low ferritin.

Thank you, I didn't know about any of that. I'm slightly worried no one has ever investigated the reason behind my anaemia, but I'm guessing it's hereditary. I wonder how they find out what type it is?
