Mystery problem with fallopian tube

Hi there,

New to MN and looking for a bit of reassurance. Long story short, while I was away on my year abroad last year I had to visit a gynaecologist (wanted to delay my period, seems docs in Germany don't like prescribing you stuff for that) and during a routine ultrasound the gynaecologist told me I had a small cyst on my right ovary. Went back a month later and it had got a wee bit smaller but she advised me to get in monitored upon my return to the UK. Had an ultrasound scan at my GP surgery in September last year, they said there was nothing on my ovary but it looked like there was something on my right Fallopian tube - they're saying it's most likely fluid as opposed to a cyst.

Scans in Germany included, I've had about 7 now (3 internal and 4 external) and at my last scan with the GP it had got bigger - about 5cm long at this point - so I was referred to a gynaecologist at a private hospital because GP wasn't happy about me not seeing a specialist (she'd sent my scan pics of to the local hospital but from what she told me the gynaecologists there would only see me if it was urgent).

I had an abdominal and pelvic MRI scan on the 23rd of last month and am still awaiting the results of that but in the meantime I was wondering if any MNers have had any similar problems? I'm 21, in good general health, never been pregnant and also never had any STIs/STDs, as my GP said that was the main cause of these sort of problems.

Pain-wise, I've noticed it gets worse around the time I'm ovulating and I get quite a few sharp, sudden twinges and sex can be painful if deep penetration is involved - feels like I'm being stabbed up there and last time the discomfort was still there the following day. I was also told I have a retroverted uterus, which might explain pain during sex in some positions. A lot of the time my dodgy Fallopian tube isn't painful as such, more of a sort of heavy feeling if that makes sense.

I'm hopefully seeing my consultant some time in the next week or two but right now I'm just fed up of no one knowing what's wrong with me and what the full extent of the problem is. Sad
