Now i'm even more worried about DD's health

Right as some of you may remember, my Dd (4) is due to have a blood test in May because her nursery were very concerned about her. They said that she was constantly tired and kept switching off. She is going to have a blood test to check her iron levels, thyroid and liver and kidneys. I also have to ask nursery to keep a note of her problems as the doc wants to establish if she is tired or having vacant episodes.

Anyway, earlier today when dd went for a poo and i wpied her bum, there was blood on the tissue. It was only a very tiny amount but it was definatly blood. She did say that some of it (the poo, sorry to be so gross) wouldn't come out, so i'm thinking that maybe she just strained to hard or something.
Can't help but think though that the whole thing could be connected. In what way i'm not sure.
Tell me i'm over reacting

Nutty was it small amount of fresh red blood r was it mixed in with the poo. If the former then no worries, it may just be a tiny tear or something.

I think it was on it's own. Didn't really check to see if it was mixed in, thats something to look forward to i suppose

Nutcracker, I can understand why you are concerned. It could have been from the strain - in which case it would just be on the tissue and not in the poo. If it is in the poo, i would call the doctor just to be safe.

Ditto that. If it was a bit of blood on the tissue, then it's likely that she has strained too hard and has caused a slight tear in her anus. If the blood was mixed in with the poo, then I would take her back to the doctors immediately. If possible, keep some of the faeces to show the dr. Much easier than trying to describe it, although not quite so pleasant.

I'm sure, almost positive that that's just a tear on her little back paasage, esp if it was hard to get out and the fact that there was blood on the tissue confirms that to me. Worth popping her along to GP or maybe just calling NHS direct. She might be given some lactulose for a bit to soften her stools to give the little tear time to heal with no more big hard poos doing any more damage.

Wouoldn't it of been painful though if it was a tiny tear ?? She didn't complain of any pain, other than saying she had tummy ache, but then she says that most days.

Could be a little pile?

Poor little mite. Was the blood bright red?

Yes it was bright red. Didn't look to closly as dd has a bit of a hang up about doing poo's anyway, and i didn't want to alarm her.

I think you are probably all right, and i will just keep an eye on her bowel movements for a while. If it happens again i will check it out with G.P.

Cheers guys

The other thing to look out for is (sorry) mucus in the poo. Blood and mucus together can signify colitis

Oh right will check for that too then. What is Colitis ??

Inflammatory bowel disease ie Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease (which I have). don't worry is v unlikely is that esp if blood if fresh and not in poo.

No, a little tear wouldn't hurt her, or at least it didn't hurt me and it didn't seem to hurt Lottie when it happened to her and there was quite a lot of blood, well ish, when she passed avery large, hard poo once.
