It hurts

What is it? Anyone? I woke up with it this morning, I have this MASSIVE urge to wee, and then very little comes out, and it really hurts, and little clots of blood are coming out of my urethra.

You might have a urine infection, you need to see your doctor. Antibiotics will probably clear it up quickly. Yoou need to see your doctor soon though because they can get worse fast. Drink plenty of water.

sounds like a horrendous bout of cystitis, but possible infection in the bladder itself or kidneys...please go to out of hours docs or call NHS direct..you might need antibiotics..... sit in a warm bath and drink lots of water, cranberry juice if you have it and please get some medical advice ASAP!

Ouch, could it be cystitis, the lack of wee sounds right but not sure about the blood. Try NHS Direct 0845 4647

drink as much water as you can and get to the DR.

it is probably an infection but best to make sure.

DEFINITELY see a doctor, colditz advice v. good, if it is bladder infection may not be serious to start with but i've hear that if it spreads to affect kidneys, then real probs start. Simple course of antibiotics clear up bladder infections if that is what it is... as with any problem the sooner you have it diagnosed the better for your own health! Again, as colditz said drink HEAPS of water/ juice, but also avoid tea/ coffee as caffeine is a diuretic (sp?)

yep. cystitis. i have peed blood clots before too and its not nice.
you do need the doc asap, coz others a right, it has taken hold and will only spread now to places you dont want it.
ask them for nitrofurantoin. its an antibiotic, i think.
and in the meantime, warm bath, lots of water (a litre an hour. i mean LOTS) and cranberry juice.
as part of recovery (in conjunction with whatever the doc gives you) get some cranberry concentrate capsules from holland and barret or somewhere and take lots regularly as the pain will go quickly once the antibiotics kick in, but it wont truly be gone for a while yet.

and dont go anywhere near: alcohol, fruit juices tea or coffee. best stick to water or cranberry juice. anything else will flare it right back up again.

sympathies!

Yes
Deffo see a Doc!
DD has a uti - took her to walk in clinic last night and her temp was 40.5, diagnosed there and given Antibiotics
UTI's can lead to alsorts of nasty kidney things so go now...

All the best xx

Thanks very much for the advice. I don't know if I can get to the doctor today, we have got my dad staying and have made plans for the day, I don't want to have to tell him what's wrong, and we don't have a car so it would take ages to get to the out of hours doc, wait to be seen, get back...would it be very bad to wait until Monday but just keep drinking lots of water?

I've had that too - and it was agony. Mine developed into a pretty nasty kidney infection get to a GP for some antibiotics as soon as you can. Drink, drink, drink plenty of water, keeps your wee as diluted as poss and makes it a little less stingy. Hope you're ok

Thanks I really love MN sometimes (am namechanger)

DH has suggested that we alter our plans a bit so that we can "happen to be passing" the walk-in centre in town, and I can nip in, so I'll do that.

I agree, DEFINITELY see the doc today, I have also had cystitis which turned nasty - if there is blood then you probably need antibiotics asap. Drink plently of water and take cranberry capsules if you can get hold of them from a health food shop. Hope you're feeling better soon.
