'Just' a cold. Mmmmm! Shivery, aching in all my joints, sore throat and waves of quease. I'm counting down to my next dose of paracetamol. Feel pants :( and want a hug. :(

Brew and Flowers from me, in the same boat. I'm taking paracetamol and ibuprofen alternately to help keep temp down and shivery ghastliness at bay :(

Maybe we are getting it out of the way before Christmas?

wildernessagogo · 22/12/2014 19:28

Full marks for positive thinking! ?? Trying to feel festive but failing miserably!

I feel your pain!

Chest infection and sinusitis here and all my meds are worn off until the morning now, so no chance of sleep tonight.

Hoping tomorrow will bring an improvement to us all!

saveoursouls · 22/12/2014 21:33

Oh god, I feel for you all. Lots of hot toddies (be generous with the whisky) and slap loads of Vicks on your chest too. For the sinusitis, try Sterimar nasal sea spray- very pure and basically seawater you spray up your nostrils as many times a day as you wish. Was the only think that helped me unblock. Also, I swear by Boots Cold Defence spray which binds to viruses in the nose to disable them, or at least render them less virulent - I've literally not hada bad cold at all in 2 years since using this all winter, plus Sambucol. Hope you're all feeling better very soon!

livegoldrings · 22/12/2014 21:40

I had a terrible virus last week, still getting over it. Dd had it too her temp got up to 103. I totally lost my voice and could hardly move. Went to GP in the end, he had a gadget that is supposed to measure your heart rate and oxygen levels. He thought it was malfunctioning as my oxygen rate was so low, but I believed it as I could hardly get my breath.

Iggi999 · 22/12/2014 22:04

I share your pain! Have had awful, swollen sore throat and general cold stuff, today got penicillin as GP though it was something like strep, and I am impatiently waiting for even the slightest sign that I'll start to feel better for Christmas... We have nothing in for dinner, no cards have been written or posted - thankfully dcs presents already organised.
Am drinking milk now as it's soothing, but have a tendency to cough it all back up...

imjustahead · 22/12/2014 22:06

hello

here are the hugs, pass them round (((((())))))))

dd has cough and cold, i have started 'something' achy in all limbs, and feel a bit wibbly.

be gone ailments please xxx

brandyandsummergloves · 22/12/2014 22:11

Aargh! I have it too! Hot and cold, aching bones, bad cough, headache and horrid taste in my mouth. Can't see much point in trying to get an appointment at the gp's tomorrow as I'll be told it's 'just a virus'.
Feel like crap :(

Iggi999 · 22/12/2014 22:34

There is very limited sympathy for me in rl as dh has played his trump card and has full-blown pneumonia Wink
Boxes of quality street everywhere and I can't face eating any...

imjustahead · 22/12/2014 22:45

yes dd has had little appetite and she hasnt wanted much the past few days.

at least the xmas chocolate will last longer than usual

SerenaJoy · 22/12/2014 22:52

We've been struck down too. Me on Saturday, DH today. Sore throats, shivery, aching all over, headaches, coughs. Urgh.

DCs are over it and are bouncing off the walls getting excited about Santa. I nearly lost my voice telling eldest to calm the fuck down today.

I don't have TIME to be ill!

PekeandPollicle · 22/12/2014 23:19

I've just got it. Poor little dS has had it for a few days and I think dd is starting... Ds is now tucked up in my beautiful bed. That means DH will get if and probably end up in hospital...

furcoatbigknickers · 22/12/2014 23:22

We are on our 6th week of illness. I had to abondon a food shop today as felt so queasy. I went to gp this morning, have had earache and sire throat for 9 days, now on abs. Hope to feel better by the big day. I have loads on tomorrow too.

EthelCardew · 23/12/2014 01:04

Fridge and cupboards full of lovely food... with no one wanting to eat it!

bigjimsdiamondmine · 23/12/2014 04:22

Wilderness, I remember you from the thread I started about the bath. How are you feeling now? Any better? I came looking for sympathy\support, woken up with horrible shivers again, and feel sick to top it off Sad An internet search of the symptoms (why do I do it?) came up with mono! sob :'( So anxious to boot, always a hypochondriac but really feel shit today. Let me know any tips, I never did feel well enough to take that bath in the end.

bigjimsdiamondmine · 23/12/2014 07:47

Also, if anyone else is still around just discovered that ibuprofen works much better than paracetamol for the illness ive got ATM. I.e the swollen glands, big tonsils, shivers, sweats and nausea. Not sure why though.

wildernessagogo · 23/12/2014 08:00

Morning all! I'm less shivery this morning but the bastard has migrated to my left ear and I am wracked with sneezes. Thank God for dark mornings which make the chances of a five year old pestering me for their chocolate advent calendar at 6:30 less likely. Also glad I'm not having to phone in sick... Bloody pissed off to be ill I'm my holidays again though grrrr. My chest is felling decidedly warm and itchy inside but I'm not coughing much... yet. Begone foulness ??

bigjimsdiamondmine · 23/12/2014 08:24

urgh horrible, such a collection of symptoms but doesn't sound like typical cold or flu Confused Fingers crossed you get better for Christmas. I want to be all excited with dc but just feeling miserable!

creamoftomato · 23/12/2014 10:10

Wilderness are you me! I've woken with really sore ear :(

Iggi999 · 23/12/2014 11:41

To add to the fun here, dh has been vomiting in the night. I think we've got two different bacterial infections and one virus on the go here Confused
I so wish I had someone to hand the dcs over to for a while - the postman would do, anyone at all.

GothMummy · 23/12/2014 17:11

Oh god I feel dreadful, currently cant get out of bed. I had to abandon the Christmas food shop too. DCs presents are wrapped but DHs are not.
And we have panto tickets for tomorrow :(

furcoatbigknickers · 23/12/2014 18:16

Hello. I have it too - banging head, sore throat, temp. I'm in bed too. I can't remember the last time I felt this rotten. Hopefully it will ease soon. I too have a house full of food I don't want to eat!

Iggi999 · 23/12/2014 18:29

On brighter news - I have eaten some dinner! I feel a bit better! Still in pyjamas and ignoring the dcs running amok around me, but every little helps!
Hope you all have a similar positive improvement at some point today Smile

Iggi999 · 23/12/2014 18:30

Furcoat - thank you! Now cocodamol, that certainly sounds like a plan...
