....if you have low blood pressure and low cholesterol. I love salt and am really surprised how many people say proudly 'I never cook with salt'. Anyway I love it and wonder if it's a problem for me as I have low blood pressure and low cholesterol.

I wonder if I like it BECAUSE of my low blood pressure.

you sound like me - I don't use salt in meals but I adore salty snacks - crisps, nuts etc. I too have low bp and cholesterol.

So if you eat lots of salty things are you worried? Do you ever get really bad cravings?

i think it depwends on your health tbh. i am unsure of what salt does really, but we are a 'avoid if possible' due to dh health problems. but even he loves a bag of salted nuts occasioanlly.

From what I know:

  • you don't need to have zero salt (well, it would be bad for you, if you did)
  • too much salt isn't necessarily great for you - I think I read that some people's blood pressure etc isn't affected by salt, and other people's is. So some people with high blood pressure shouldn't even bother cutting salt, as it won't make any difference!
  • processed foods generally have loads of salt in, as it really does make pretty much everything taste better.
