Temp is just below 100
Hands and feet arent freezing, but cold compared to the rest of him, his head and body are really warm, he's went to bed. jas been grumpy but isn't crying.
Don't know if it's just a bug or worse?

I reckon Mum's instinct has to come into play here-if you are worried it may be something more serious than a bug then please go to A&E.

If it were me I would probably do calpol and very close monitoring but you MUST do what you think is right.

better to get it checked out, as can be an indicator of meningitis, also can just happen with a fever but i would always check out especially at this age.

I do not want to alarm you, but fever with cold hands and feet is one of the symptoms of meningitis in young children.
It may very, very well NOT be meningitis. But it is better to be safe than sorry.

fever with cold hands can be indicitive of very late septic shock which is serious, but unless your lo is very poorly there is no need to panic, definately worth ringing nhs direct.
agree with mothers instinct, go with that.
a&e are always glad to check little ones over and send them home, no one there would mind at all if it turns out to be nothing.

I agree call nhs direct they tell you wether you need to go a&e they can call an ambulance for you. Otherwise watch him closely and give calpol and take him to GP in the morning they always have a slot for kids.

For me, I would find a doctor/a&e who can see you now. DD has had this twice - never anything very sinister, but she has gone very floppy with it and I tend to err on the side of caution now.

I hope everything is ok with your little one, for reasurrance my ds is 21 months to and everytime he has temp he always gets cold hands and feet like noonar said for my ds fever and cold extremities go hand in hand.

For future, get temp down with calpol and ibuprofen at same time. DS had two febrile convulsions. Just had a run of the mill nursery bug but temp got too high and he had a fit. Their little systems cant cope, and cold hands and feet can be a sign that their brain knows there is something wrong, so starts taking blood away from extremities to protect vital organs.

Anyway one night DS hot but freezing hands and feet so I take him into bed with me under my duvet - most stupid thing to do because of course he heated up even more and had a fit. Terrifying. Anyway first thing hospital did was calpol and nurafen suppositries to get the temp down asap and 15 mins later running around fine.

Hi, thanks for all your concern, i went to a&e and he was absolutely fine, just a bug, I know the cold hand/feet thing is a sign that circulation could be stopping due to sep/men thats why i was so worried, he was back to his cheeky self in no time !
